Your social media page is an extension of your portfolio. It should be a visual representation of your personal brand. This is where you control the content you post and how others can perceive you.

Social Media as a Booking Tool

The key thing to remember about social media is that it should be a visual representation of you. As long as you are posting things that you are genuinely interested in, you’ll come off as authentic and your personal brand will  shine through.

As actors and models, your social media should be a collection of posts that showcase all your talents and interests. A well curated page that shows your personal brand can give you an advantage when it comes to booking roles.

It’s becoming more common for casting directors to request Instagram handles so they can get a sense of who you are before they select the people they want to move forward with. It would be beneficial for you to have an active page highlighting all your interest so that directors can identify your relevant experiences, which may lead to more opportunities for different roles.

Remember, your social media is an extension of your portfolio, so be sure to only post high-quality photos and videos. Here are a few suggestions to help you get started:

1. Curate a page with a variety of media, not just posed photos or headshots but rather a variety of lifestyle photos and videos.

2.  Show your passion. If you are into health and wellness, make sure to include content that shows you participating in such activities or providing tips to your audience.

3. Self promotion is great, but make sure you have a good balance. Supporting friends / peers is another great way to engage with your followers.
